Tour Stop #2: 738 York Street

Quirky and cool

If York Street Café’s door is open, take a walk through this old pharmacy that is now a restaurant with fun, quirky décor (come back soon for a delicious meal). Then head up to the 2nd floor event space. They’ll have munchies, coffee and interesting info about upcoming developments in Newport. Finish your tour of this 1880’s Queen Anne building with a WOW in the 4th floor apartment. Dubbed the “York Street Penthouse” by the tenant, it is reminiscent of a museum with interesting collectables everywhere you turn. Keep an eye out for the menagerie—can you spot: a penguin, buffalo, camel, monkey, rhino, bear and elephant? On your way out, give the giant papier-mache’ dog a pat on the head.
